Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942, in Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad), India, to social activist Teji Bachchan and Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan.Awadhi Hindu Kayastha [17] Harivansh Rai Bachchan spoke Awadhi, Hindi, and Urdu with ease.[20] Harivansh's forefathers originated from the Babupatti hamlet in the Raniganj tehsil of the Pratapgarh district in what is now the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.[21] From Lyallpur, Punjab, British India (modern-day Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan), Teji Bachchan was a Punjabi Sikh Khatri.[19]Ajitabh Bachchan, Bachchan's younger brother, is 5 years Bachchan's junior.[23]
The name Amitabh was suggested to Bachchan's father by poet Sumitranandan Pant; Bachchan's parents had originally planned to name him Inquilaab (Hindustani for "Revolution"), inspired by the saying "Long live the revolution" that was frequently used during the Indian independence struggle.[24][1] Amitabh's father, who despised the caste system, went by the pen name Bachchan—which means "child-like" in colloquial Hindi—and used it to publish all of his writings, despite having the surname Shrivastava.[25] His mother and father agreed that the family name should be Bachchan rather than Shrivastava when they were trying to get Bachchan accepted into a school.[26] Amitabh first appeared in movies using this last name, and it has now come to be utilized for all other practical purposes.

Boys' High School & College in Prayagraj and Sherwood College in Nainital were the locations of Bachchan's secondary schooling. Acting career

                    Early creer{1969-1972}


As a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen's National Award-winning film Bhuvan Shome, Bachchan made his acting debut in 1969.[38] In the Khwaja Ahmad Abbas-directed film Saat Hindustani[39], which also starred Utpal Dutt, Anwar Ali (the brother of comic Mehmood), Madhu, and Jalal Agha, he played one of the seven protagonists for the first time.[40][41]

For the movie Coolie, Bachchan and co-star Puneet Issar were filming a fight scene when Bachchan suffered a nearly deadly stomach injury.[71] In one scene, Bachchan had to fall onto a table and then the ground because he was doing his own stunts for the movie. But as he leaped at the table, a table corner struck him in the belly, rupturing his spleen and causing him to lose a lot of blood. He required an urgent splenectomy and spent many months in the hospital in critical condition, frequently on the verge of death.
