Pak court to announce verdict on Imran Khan's plea against conviction today 

پاکستان کی عدالت عمران خان کی سزا کے خلاف درخواست پر فیصلہ آج سنائے گی۔


In response to former prime minister Imran Khan's request to have a sessions court's three-year prison term in the Toshakhana corruption case halted, the Pakistan High Court said it would announce its judgment on Tuesday.

سابق وزیراعظم عمران خان کی توشہ خانہ بدعنوانی کیس میں سیشن عدالت کی تین سال قید کی سزا روکنے کی درخواست کے جواب میں، پاکستان ہائی کورٹ نے کہا کہ وہ منگل کو اپنا فیصلہ سنائے گی۔



A Pakistani high court announced on Monday that it would reserve judgment on the former prime minister Imran Khan's request to have the three-year prison sentence imposed on him in the Toshakhana corruption case suspended until Tuesday.

پاکستان کی ایک ہائی کورٹ نے پیر کے روز اعلان کیا کہ وہ سابق وزیر اعظم عمران خان کی توشہ خانہ بدعنوانی کیس میں انہیں سنائی گئی تین سال قید کی سزا کو منگل تک معطل کرنے کی درخواست پر فیصلہ محفوظ کر لے گی۔

After hearing from the attorneys for both parties, a divisional bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges, led by Chief Justice Amer Farooq and Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, reserved the decision.

فریقین کے وکلا کے دلائل سننے کے بعد چیف جسٹس عامر فاروق اور جسٹس طارق محمود جہانگیری کی سربراہی میں اسلام آباد ہائی کورٹ (IHC) کے ججز کے ڈویژنل بنچ نے فیصلہ محفوظ کر لیا۔

The bench later stated that the reserved judgment would be announced at 11.00 a.m. on Tuesday.

بنچ نے بعد میں کہا کہ محفوظ شدہ فیصلہ منگل کی صبح 11 بجے سنایا جائے گا۔




The IHC started hearing the appeal on August 22 and continued hearing it earlier in the day. After the attorney for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) failed to show up owing to sickness on Friday, the hearing was postponed.

IHC نے 22 اگست کو اپیل کی سماعت شروع کی اور دن کے اوائل میں بھی اس کی سماعت جاری رکھی۔ الیکشن کمیشن آف پاکستان (ای سی پی) کے وکیل کی جانب سے جمعہ کو بیماری کے باعث پیش نہ ہونے کے بعد سماعت ملتوی کردی گئی۔

On Thursday, Khan's attorney Latif Khosa concluded his case, claiming that the verdict was rushed and flawed. He pleaded with the court to overturn the verdict, but the defense team insisted on more time to present its case.

IHC نے 22 اگست کو اپیل کی سماعت شروع کی اور دن کے اوائل میں بھی اس کی سماعت جاری رکھی۔ الیکشن کمیشن آف پاکستان (ای سی پی) کے وکیل کی جانب سے جمعہ کو بیماری کے باعث پیش نہ ہونے کے بعد سماعت ملتوی کردی گئی۔

Many think that the Supreme Court's highlighting of flaws in the conviction of Khan, 70, may result in a favorable judgement for him.

A first information report (FIR) filed against Khan for making remarks about state institutions and their officers during a speech was dismissed by the Balochistan High Court (BHC) on Monday.

بہت سے لوگوں کا خیال ہے کہ سپریم کورٹ کی جانب سے 70 سالہ خان کی سزا میں خامیوں کو اجاگر کرنے کے نتیجے میں ان کے لیے ایک سازگار فیصلہ ہو سکتا ہے۔

The decision on the petition brought by Iqbal Shah of the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) was announced by a two-member bench consisting of BHC Chief Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Gul Hasan Tareen, according to Geo News.

The high court also overturned the judicial magistrate's warrants for Khan's arrest.

"Alhamdulillah, the court has dismissed the FIR registered against Imran Khan in Bijli Road police station in Quetta, once again Imran Khan has been vindicated in a false case, congratulations to all Pakistan on the victory of justice," wrote Khan's lawyer Naeem Haider Panjutha on X, formerly Twitter, in a message of joy following the case's dismissal.

Amjad Pervaiz, the attorney for the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), pleaded with the IHC to issue a notice to the state making it a respondent in the case during Monday's session. He claimed that the law required it.

Khan's attorney Khosa stated that he had no issues to the ECP counsel's request to issue a notice to the state after Pervaiz finished his remarks.

The court then withheld judgment on the case until later.

Separately, a three-judge panel of the Supreme Court, comprising Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, and Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail, was also deliberating on petitions related to the Toshakhana issue.

After the Islamabad High Court's ruling was made public, the party claimed that the highest court will hear the matter.

The Supreme Court had earlier found "shortcomings" in the verdict of the Sessions Court on Wednesday while hearing numerous petitions related to the Toshakhana issue.

اسلام آباد ہائی کورٹ کے فیصلے کے منظر عام پر آنے کے بعد، پارٹی نے دعویٰ کیا کہ اعلیٰ ترین عدالت اس معاملے کی سماعت کرے گی۔

سپریم کورٹ نے اس سے قبل توشہ خانہ کے معاملے سے متعلق متعدد درخواستوں کی سماعت کے دوران بدھ کو سیشن کورٹ کے فیصلے میں "کوتاہیاں" پائی تھیں۔

The panel noted that the judgement was delivered in a hurry and without providing the accused with a right of defense. The chief justice declared, "Prima facie, the trial court verdict contains errors."

پینل نے نوٹ کیا کہ فیصلہ جلد بازی میں اور ملزم کو دفاع کا حق فراہم کیے بغیر سنایا گیا۔ چیف جسٹس نے قرار دیا کہ پہلی نظر، ٹرائل کورٹ کے فیصلے میں غلطیاں ہیں۔
